| Based on the PRA survey, PMSSS launched a slew of livelihood support measures to the fisher folk, agriculturists and the indirectly affected people who were in a state of despondency, having lost their boats and gears, lands and the other means of livelihood. PMSSS played a very vital role for their rehabilitation. |

Just as necessity is the mother of invention, crises can be a source of improvisation. St. Joseph's Industrial Training Institute, Cuddalore, one of the institutions of the Archdiocese of Pondicherry spurred to start a totally new unit for manufacturing 202 fibre boats to address the immediate needs of the fisher folk. |
